Nice Notes JoAnn, I stumbled across your website and had to email you. I use to work lights for Lisa Davis back when you were with Gypsy Child and working at gigs like Fairbanks Inn (FBI) in the late ‘80’s. Lisa said she saw you at a gig in Longwood a while back. Is the calendar of events and gigs on your web page current 2006? Just curious. Hope all is well with you and hope to catch one of your perfomances. Great to see you are around and still kickin it on stage. I often use you as an example for inspiration for my step-daughter. She started as a music major at SCC about 3 or 4 years ago. Since then, she has mastered bass, is proficient on guitar, dabbles with keyboard, and has recently picked up on violin or gitt-fiddle. She has done a bunch of jazz gigs at the college and played some club gigs with some local rock bands. (See attached photo of an Xmas party) She also teaches music. But I often mention good words about the cool “Gypsy Child” lady who had her own band and a great, kick ass, Janis Joplin set. If the webmistress has routine email-outs or sends email flyers, please keep me on her list. And let me know when you are at the Handlebar & Grille, it’s not to far from the home front in Altamonte. The webmistress JoAnn’s web site is too cool. Keep on rockin’ girl. And good luck with your CD; you go girl.....Dave Roberts, Security Designer, HDR Security Operations, Inc. ********** Hi JoAnn, We are very excited to have you perform Saturday. Just as a reminder, get here when you like, show scheduled to begin at 7:30 - we have power. I keep listening to your music and get more excited with every song... LOVE the Janis Joplin gig!!! We want it all. Questions, just call. Thanks again,....Shellie ********** I LOVE your flute music. I do not see on your website where you are located however. I would really like to come and listen when you are playing sometime. I see a lot of Florida west coast things but also Leesburg. Could that possibly be Leesburg Virginia? Do you have a CD of your flute or flute and harp. If you will tell me how… I would LOVE to have your music available, with credits, on our sites! I certainly want to buy your CD too! Please… find a way for me to put your music on our sites!!!! Not only is the name thingy cool… but your music is at the very top of the mountain for me in listening value. Flute, Harp, perhaps even vocals. I am off to see what I may listen to. I live below the Cape May – Lewes Ferry in Lewes and Rehoboth Delaware… the state… instead of the Delaware Valley. But our stomping grounds were nearly identical in flavor if not address. All the best to you, Check our Blog: http://KateJodyRealtors.fidelityassets.com ..... Mr. Jody Hudson www.Kate-Jody.com ********** Enjoyed the Gypsy Child gig in Eustis. I think you guys were a hit with the patrons and the staff. The lady bartender was dancing a lot. The music was excellent. And you guys seemed to pick it up a notch on "Goodwill Store". The new keyboard is excellent. Sorry to confuse you with the term "Spot On". It is a term that means perfect. Now I know why you value Nici. Man, there isn't anything she can't do with drums. As you may know, I have seen a lot of musicians over the years. I always watch them to see how good a technician of their instruments they are. Nici is as good a drummer as I have ever seen. No other drummer has got anything on her. You better hope she isn't discovered by a major act. She just sits back there and gets into her "zone" and does her thing. And she makes the technically difficult things look too easy. Your performance was excellent as well. I enjoyed watching you multi-task. While playing a song on keyboards, you take a sip of beverage, light up a smoke, adjust your glasses, flip some pages and entertain verbal communicatiions. Men are not able to do that. You are a woman, hear you roar. All and all, I think it was a successful outing for Gypsy Child. Excellent job!........Dave ********** Hello, I just found your web site. I'm pretty sure that you are the band that I watched in '83 or '84 at the Petty Officers Club at Naval Training Center, Orlando. I attended nearly every show. It's great to hear that you are still rocking! I'll be looking forward to the release of your upcoming CD......Great Song! I remember the voice, now. I can see you behind the drum kit, back from break before the rest of the band, belting out "Lord, won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz..."When I order my CD, I would like an autographed copy, please........Mark A. Liddle ********** JoAnn was "kickin it" at Virgin Records The day was gorgeous - perfect setting to be out playing amongst a crowd building up the energy for the Festival of the Masters. She held passing people, and a crowd around her with her great vocals. I'm totally mesmerized by this woman's talent to go solo, and standing up to this kind of crowd, playing tracks and keyboards and belting out every song. I think the soundman could have boosted her vocals up more, but she did a great job singing her variety of songs. Not only did she do some blues which she is known for, she did some ballads that I've never heard anyone do, and she did them justice......Jann ********** It was a beautiful day! Joann was electrifying as usual......Tom Bastedo ********** I enjoyed JoAnn's set very much--she got passersby to stop and listen! Her lovely voice and confident performance told me much about her experience. Great job, JoAnn. I look forward to seeing you play lots more!.......Toni Brown ********** BLUES 4 Hire - they were on a roll. It's nice to hear a blues band that does different standards from what everyone else is doing. Their vocals were so smoooothe.... When I heard JoAnn belting out her song - I had to stop in my tracks and run to the stage. She's a FAB singer! And I saw the reaction of the crowd too - they stopped in their tracks to listen to her too.......Jann Childers ********** Blues 4 Hire just rocked downtown Disney! Chuck, JoAnn, Selwyn and Auggie are one of the best bands around and they really shone on saturday. Chuck is such a fine drummer and his vocals are always "just right". I could listen to his take on the late Ace Moreland's "Murdered By Love" a thousand times and not get tired of it! And JoAnn blew me away with her singing, you really should have heard her version of "When a Man Loves a Woman"... GREAT stuff!......Bulldog Ben ********** Hey Everyone: JoAnn IS a "great vocalist and songwriter". I had the pleasure of working on a recording project that she was a major part of with Riff West of Molly Hatchett/Foghat fame - "Animal Magnetism" many moons ago. It showcased not only her versatile talent as a vocalist, but her songwriting abilities. I was lucky to see her do a few of the "Joplin Shows" and she's got it down. So sorry I missed being there to see her. If you get another opportunity to catch her - DO!......Jann ********** Bulldog wanted to throw in another thought or two about one of our new subscribers. JoAnn Hudson is a fine musician who is now playing with "Blues 4 Hire". Their set at the Smokee Tavern yesterday was a real highlight. JoAnn has been performing for many years with Gypsy Child and i'm not sure now whether they're still playing together or not. JoAnn does also perform solo and here's a site where you can learn more........Bulldog Ben ********** "Blues 4 Hire" turned in a great set, they had a new (for them) keys player named JoAnn and she was a fine addition. They sounded really good too, it was all so truly good, IMHO, anyway......Bulldog Ben ********** Wow!! I remember seeing Gypsy Child at The Orlando Connection oh so many years ago! Ron and I used to go there on the jam night and be so out of place with our versions of "The Thrill is Gone" and "Sweet Home Chicago"!!......Dave Mann (funkUs) ********** CC and JoAnn and all of 'em from "Blues 4 Hire" were in the House too and they jammed like the pros they are!......Bulldog ********** JoAnn, The ONE MORE THANG i wanted to say is simply: THANK YOU for JOINING the OBBS! We're tickled to have you as an official member! You're not just a nice person and a great musician, you're a GOOD ROLE MODEL for some others on the list who have not quite yet "taken the plunge" and become official members! WTG! :) ********** Hey All, Thanks to those of you who showed up last week, what an awesome night! We had 14 jammers sign up and some impressive and passionate performances. Just a few of the highlights of the night were JoAnn giving an awesome rendition of Big Boss Man on keys and vocals, what a voice, and Bulldog Ben on Harp & Vocals......Steve Guerra ********** JoAnn is not only an amazing singer but a good photog -- and much more! I also appreciate her pix and all she does to make the blues scene in C.F. better! And i do love to play with her, of course! So as a small <thank you> i'm putting a foto of JoAnn Joplin -- I mean JoAnn HUDSON, up on our B.O.S.S. front page! Check it out......Bulldog Ben ********** What a great pic of JoAnn - she's a great singer! Perfect pic for B.O.S.S. page......Jann ********** I'm also very fond of BLUES CREW, the Austin Pettit Band, any line-up w/ Doc or JoAnn in it and Jann Childers, but that's not an unbiased opinion, as i play w/ her now and then......Bulldog
